Philippine Ambassador Presents Letters of Credence to President of Ecuador

BOGOTA 27 May 2025 — Philippine Ambassador to Colombia Adrian Bernie Candolada presented on 23 May 2025 his Letters of Credence as non-resident ambassador to Ecuador to H.E. Daniel Roy Gilchrist Noboa Azín, President of the Republic of Ecuador.

The ceremony was held at the Palacio de Carondelet, which is the presidential office, in the capital of Quito.

In a brief exchange with President Noboa, Ambassador Candolada expressed his commitment to contribute meaningfully to the deepening friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Ecuador.

He also conveyed the congratulatory greetings of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr to President Noboa who was reelected on 13 April 2025.

President Noboa mentioned that his wife, Lavinia Valbonesi, had always expressed her desire to see the Philippines, particularly Palawan. Ambassador Candolada also informed President Noboa that marine biodiversity in the Galapagos islands of Ecuador attracts a lot of Filipino travelers.

Ambassador Candolada joined four other envoys from Pakistan, Serbia, Namibia, and the United Arab Emirates who also presented their credentials to President Noboa.

On 22 May 2025, a day before the presentation of credentials, H.E. Gabriela Sommerfeld, Foreign Minister of Ecuador, who received an open copy of the Letters of Credence of Ambassador Candolada, had a productive exchange of views with the Philippine Ambassador over potential areas of collaboration in marine biodiversity conservation, trade, tourism, education, South-South cooperation, and candidatures in the United Nations bodies.

On 24 May 2025, Ambassador Candolada represented President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the inauguration of President Noboa as 48th President of Ecuador. The inauguration was held at the Asamblea Nacional also in Quito. END
